I’ve been in the cleaning industry for a bit now and I’m sure you’ve heard the term “position” referred to a lot in the industry. It’s used for positions within the industry like a manager, a salesperson, an accountant, a technical writer, or a janitor.
In a janitor position, they clean rooms. In a sales position, they perform sales function. In a manager position, they will be the person in charge or are in charge of a team and are in charge of making sure the teams are doing what they are supposed to be doing. In a technical writer position, they are a writer and are in charge of writing the technical aspects of the software.
The main difference between janitor and sales rep is that a janitor can’t be in charge of anything and a sales rep can.
Sales reps get paid by commissions, janitors by bonuses. Sales reps get paid by commissions and bonuses, janitors get paid by commissions and bonuses. Sales reps can be in charge of a team and janitors can. Sales reps can be in charge of the entire company and janitors can.
As you might imagine, janitors will typically be in charge of cleaning the office space. Sales reps will typically be in charge of the sales team and janitors will typically be in charge of the janitorial staff. Sales reps can be in charge of a whole company and janitors can. Sales reps can be in charge of making sales and janitors can. Sales reps can be in charge of a whole company and janitors can.
If your sales team is in charge of a whole company then that company is probably a sales company. If your sales reps are in charge of a whole company then that company is probably a sales company. If your janitors are in charge of a whole company then that company is probably a janitorial company.
Sales reps are the sales people who sell products to customers. There are sales people, janitors, and sales teams. Sales reps are the sales people who sell products. Sales reps have a lot of power, janitors have a lot of power, and sales teams can have a lot of power. But janitors are not sales people, janitors are not sales teams, and sales teams are not janitors.
Sales reps have a lot of power because they control the sale of goods. And janitors have a lot of power because they manage the supply of goods. And sales teams have a lot of power because they can control the supply of goods for the sales team. But janitors are not sales teams, janitors are not sales representatives, and sales representatives can’t be janitors.
Sales reps should not have to worry about cleaning positions, janitors should not have to worry about cleaning positions, sales reps shouldn’t have to worry about cleaning positions, and janitors shouldn’t have to worry about cleaning positions.
You might say, “But wait, there are janitors too!” And you would be right, but you would be wrong. Not only are janitors not sales reps, janitors are actually the least sales people of all. We all know that janitors are a dirty, and sometimes dangerous, occupation. But when you ask janitors why they want to be a janitor, you’re never gonna get an honest answer.
