The darkstalkers series is one of the most iconic fighting games in recent memory. It has been adapted and remastered for various game consoles over the years, but it still remains a fan favorite to this day. With a diverse roster of characters spanning multiple races, genders, and nationalities; dark stalkers has something for everyone! To help you choose your next favorite character we have compiled the ultimate tier list ranking every single fighter in the dark stalkers series!
Tier One: These characters are at the top of their respective class and can easily dominate any fight. They have strong move sets, a variety of combos that work on most opponents, reliable ways to get around projectiles from mid range or in close quarters combat (due to their mobility), great throws for shutting down rush down tactics with ease; they are some of the best overall fighters in dark stalkers!
Nightmare–He is one tough cookie. He does not move swiftly but he has powerful normals such as his standing medium punch which will send your opponent flying across the screen if it connects. His Dark Force technique forces anyone caught by it into a vulnerable state where you can catch them with an unblockable attack making him a set-up monster.
Nightmare can also chain his normals into special and dark force techniques, making him the ultimate master of mix ups! All he needs is a little space to work with and he will take full advantage of it by controlling you in all aspects of combat!
Jedah–Jedah may not be strong or quick but that doesn’t stop him from being one tricky cookie. He has an array on projectiles at mid range which forces most opponents back because they are too slow for him to catch up. His teleport technique lets him avoid getting pinned down against projectile spammers or keep pressure on scared players who like to move about randomly; so expect your opponent to give you plenty of chances to land combos if their style isn’t to block and counter.
Demitri–Demitri is one of the most powerful characters in the game with his dark force energy attacks, but he can also fly around aggressively while using these dark forces for a more aggressive playstyle due to it being difficult to react against him without knowledge on what attack will come next. He has some slow moves that can be punished if you do not stay calm under pressure.
Rikuo–Rikuo may have short range when playing defensively, but once you get close enough his normal chain into special techniques make him extremely dangerous because they are unblockable! His dragon form gives him access all sorts of mix ups like teleporting behind opponents for surprise grabs or just grabbing them before they know what happened.
Duo Lon is the primary zoning character in darkstalkers that can use her long and fast projectiles to keep the opponent at bay while she sets up traps using their own moves against them by way of absorbing energy from a blocked projectile and instantly firing it back as an attack. She has some amazing combos with both air throw and ground throws that allow for devastating damage on unsuspecting opponents.
Abyss was one of the first darkstalkers to be released and as such he has a wide variety of moves that have been added over time like Chaos Flare which is probably his most iconic move from the original game but didn’t get much attention until later games after it got buffed up. He can also use his ground throw in tandem with some meter for a devastating combo, though this tactic requires expert timing or else you’ll just end up getting punished.
Pyron starts out slow compared to others because he’s lacking any sort of ranged attack outside of throwing fireballs but once he gets close enough all hell breaks loose with unblockable grabs, projectiles and invincible attacks on top of being able to fly around at high speeds.
Jedah’s strength is his versatility with moves that either deal a lot of damage or put the opponent in an unfavorable position for combos thanks to their range and tracking, while still being able to land quite easily once you get used to it all. He also has some great ground throws, but they’re hard to use since he doesn’t have any air throws like other characters do.
Rolento is a very aggressive character with quick attacks on top of having projectiles which make him seem more powerful than he actually is as his defense isn’t exactly stellar outside of using dashes so if your attack gets blocked then you’ll be at the mercy of what the opponent does next or else try dodging out even though this will leave him.
