The World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online game where players can explore new worlds, battle monsters and other players, and forge and break alliances or even wage war on them. There are many screenshots available that show the world in all its glory – but where exactly do you find them? In this post we’ll take a look at how to find these images for your own collection.
First, you’ll want to open the World of Warcraft in your browser and then click on the “Screenshots” tab at the top.
This will take you to a page where you can browse through all available screenshots or search for them by keyword.
If you’re looking for specific ones with particular keywords, type them into the Search bar before clicking Enter (or Return). You may also filter by game version(s) here: current patch, previous patches, future patches etc. For this example we are going to use “mountaingate” as our keyword and explore what images show up when browsing through past versions.
This is an example screenshot from Patch V0.13b:
This screenshot is from the side of Mountaingate, where you can see that there are some orcs just over the rise.
To get a closer look at what they’re doing, click on this image to open it in full size and zoom into any part of it for more detail. You can also use your mousewheel or scroll bar (on desktop) to pan around inside the photo.
Click “X” if you want to return back up one level when finished viewing an enlarged preview; clicking outside of the photo will take you back down to browsing through all available screenshots again.
This page offers multiple links for each game version: Patch V0.13b download link, patch V0.13b patch notes, and a Patch V0.14a preview link.
Here is a screenshot from the world map, where you can see that there are three outposts: Sentinel Hill to the west, Silverwind Refuge in the center of the frame, and Sun’s Reach Keep far off on the horizon.
The purple circle at bottom left shows your current position (in this case we’re east of Sun’s Reach). To zoom in closer on any area to get more detailed information about it – including all quests available there – click “X” when viewing an enlarged preview; clicking outside of the photo will take you back down to browsing through all screenshots again.
To go to a particular point on the map, you can use “N” and “E” keys. For example if we wanted to visit Silverwind Refuge, it would take us about three clicks of the mouse wheel or six keystrokes: N once; W twice (to get back where we were); E twice more.
Here is an image that I took while playing through one of the quests in Patch V0.13b where you have to escort refugees from Sentinel Hill down into Sun’s Reach Keep…
(I had forgotten my screenshot key so I couldn’t make this a .gif file)

Patch 0.14 Released To Live Servers; Includes New Quests, a new dungeon and more! The Sunwell Plateau Raid’s second phase: Elune Caves where Mennu waits and slumbers in eternal sleep until he is called is also now available for testing on the Public Test Realms (PTR)! There are plenty of updates to get excited about with this patch – be sure to read over all the changes before you jump into game! This includes two new quests, one involving a visit into an ancient temple where we’ll find our first Warbringer weapons set. We’re really looking forward to seeing how these perform against Heroic-level opponents.
Alliance players can battle for control of Azeroth’s most dangerous weapons in this new Alliance-only dungeon, the Warbringer Spire. The Horde will have to wait until they’ve earned their own set of these powerful and long awaited weapons before entering this dungeon where a giant Sunwell Sentinel awaits them at its peak!
